Large-scale (full-sized) photorealistic drawings using graphite on Mylar
This show saddle was created for the legendary M.L. Leddy of San Angelo and Fort Worth fame. Four saddles made and given to the Leddy brothers and this one was used by M.L. Leddy for special events and parades. The Leddy company has made saddles and boots for western dignitaries and cowboys for over a century. The tooling is exquisitely preserved in this saddle that will be 100 years old in 2020.
The opposite side of the "Round-Up" saddle. The collector wanted the same saddle drawing that a friend of his had purchased. Instead of replicating the same drawing, I did the opposite side, which depicts a cowboy being bucked off of a wide stallion
A saddle owned by the excentric Jacquin Archer Stewart and build for her by the Mueller Saddle works out of Denver Colorado. She had it made in the case she went to the Stewarts Colorado Ranch she would have her own saddle. It was never riden.
Once the original drawing is complete I have the drawing high resolution scanned and printed and then I hand apply coloration with transparent watercolor dyes and opaque gouache to create a unique one-of-a-kind limited edition print. Each is different and the hand coloration process allows me to change the saddle color to whatever I choose. In this case, the original saddle is black dyed leather but in the colorized version I can make it a warm saddle tan.
